For the past few weeks, I have spent quite a bit of time reflecting on what I would like to add and remove from my life for this next chapter. I have always enjoyed this time of the year and since I was young, I have taken part in establishing resolutions for the new year.

This year, the timing couldn't have been more perfect for me as I had been wanting to sit down and think about all the changes I would like to make in my life. I think that this will be a particularly exciting year and decade for me for a number of reasons which I will get into in subsequent posts.

For me, I have decided to focus on seven words this year: authentic, mindfulness, ruminate, evolution, self-care, love, and explore. The word that I am particularly excited for is evolution. I looked up all seven words and wrote the corresponding definition to help me narrow my focus as I wrote my goals underneath each word. The definition I selected for evolution is the following: A process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state.

In one word: Growth.

I have a list of personal and professional goals I would like to accomplish this year that will continue to push me, challenge me, and mold me into the person I would like to become. Some of my professional goals include getting my C license and attend the Coaches Convention in Baltimore. One personal goal is to read 10 pages every day and commit to one blog post every Sunday.

Whether it's January 1st, March 2nd, or December 31st, it's never too late to make just one positive change for your life. There was a quote I read recently that has been on my mind. The message essentially said that one small thing you do for yourself today, done everyday, will lead to massive gains over time. Maybe that's reading 10 pages a day, maybe that's reaching for the carrot sticks nobody likes instead of for the cupcake, whatever it is, join me in the challenge to truly grow and flourish this year.
